Greenham Common events in Bristol this weekend

A series of events will remember Greenham Common Peace Camp and the legacy of feminist resistance in Bristol this weekend.

The events, held at Trinity Centre and Bristol Central Friends Meeting House are part of Common Ground, a national tour bringing the legacy of Greenham Common Women’s Peace Camp to local communities across the UK.

On Saturday at the Trinity Centre there will be printmaking workshops, singing and a panel discussion with Dr Edsom Burton. Events take place between midday and 4pm.

Sunday, at the Friends Meeting House, brings craftivism with Greenham Woman, Jill ‘Ray’ Raymond, film screenings, and talks from Greenham Women. Events take place between 3pm and 8pm and are all free to attend.

Between 1981 and 2000, thousands of women blockaded the RAF base at Greenham Common, Berkshire, in protest against the siting of US nuclear warheads there.

The blockade created an entire generation of feminist activists and peace campaigners. The legacy of Greenham Common is now kept alive by projects like Greenham Women Everywhere and Scary Little Girls
